ATHLETICS OVERVIEW

We are the MARINERS and we are proud of our Teams!

Currently, we offer the following sports:

Fall Sports: Cross Country, Football, Girls Golf, Girls Tennis, Girls Volleyball, Girls Water Polo, Boys Water Polo, Rally squad

Winter Sports: Boys & Girls Basketball, Rally Squad, Boys & Girls Soccer

Spring Sports: Badminton, Baseball, Boys Golf, Softball, Swimming, Boys Tennis, Track & Field, Boys Volleyball

The Mariners participate in the Mission Valley Athletic League (MVAL) which allows the student-athletes the opportunity to compete against top-notch competition. The MVAL consists of James Logan, Newark Memorial, American, Irvington, JFK Fremont, Washington, Mission San Jose, and Moreau Catholic.




ATHLETICS NEWS

Frosh football standout Tyler Randall, who anchors the offensive and defensive lines for the Mariner JV team, has been selected to the USA Football Under-16 Select Team as a defensive tackle. The select team will play Unidad - Mexico in International Bowl IX at AT&T Stadium in Texas on January 19. USA Football is the sport's national governing body for youth football. Tyler was selected from more than 10,000 athletes who participated in the U.S. National Team Program.
Board member Char Raimondi was honorary coach for Moreau's football game against Irvington on Sept. 29. Char had won the "Coach for a Day" opportunity at this year's golf tournament auction.
Chris Krisman, Moreau's Athletic Director for the last 10 years and entering her 38th year at Moreau, has taken on the new role of Athletic Director for Communications to concentrate on expanding Moreau's sports information opportunities and marketing. Monica Wright-Heuer is Moreau's new Athletic Director for Operations, supervising all sports and event management as well as Booster Club operations.
Coach Enrique Henriquez believes that the mission of Moreau's cross-country team is to cultivate a healthy, competitive mindset of all sports, but especially to make running a part of a long-lasting journey into adulthood.
The Annual Moreau Catholic Alumnae Volleyball Game between Mariner alumnae and the current varsity team was played on Saturday, September 9 with 11 alumnae in attendance.

The Athletic department is proud to announce that 260/318 of the fall athletes achieved a 3.0 or better with 92 achieving over a 4.0.

The squads competed last weekend and both squads performed well enough to qualify for Nationals in February.

ALUMNI SOCCER CAME DETERMINED TO WIN---AND DID!

13 Alumni showed up Saturday night to pit their skills against the Varsity Boys/Girls 2017-18 teams. Spanning from 2007-2015, they were a great representative team of Mariner Soccer. Eric Webb'15, score first at the 21 minute mark then Boyah Kaar'07, added a goal at the 31 minute mark. Kyle Ryan'07, added a goal 22 minutes into the 2nd half with Sal Borrayo'09 adding a goal with 4:22 to go in the game. With time running out, Oscar Garcia, Jr'18 scored the lone goal for the Varsity squads.
