2012 WCEA/WASC Visit
On March 4-7, 2012 the Moreau Catholic community warmly welcomed six educators from Bay Area Catholic schools who served as the Visiting Committee for the 2012 Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA)/Western Association of Schools & Colleges (WASC) accreditation.
Every few years, Moreau Catholic embarks on a rigorous self-study of all aspects of the institution. This last process began in 2010 with the formation of focus groups made up of students, staff, parents, community members, and faculty. Meetings were held over the course of two years. These groups examined the school’s governance and organization; its academic program; student social, spiritual, and support programs; resource management and development structures; and the school’s Catholic identity. The end product of this process was the authoring of the 2012 Focus on Learning Self Study Report and the collection of evidence on which the report was based.
During the 2012 accreditation visit, the Visiting Committee met with constituent groups in the school, visited classrooms, and experienced life in the Moreau Catholic community. The purpose was to affirm the findings of the self-study and the school’s goals and plans for ongoing improvement. Historically, Moreau Catholic has always been blessed to receive a six-year term of accreditation after each visit--the maximum allowable term granted by WCEA/WASC. This was the case again in 2012. Our next accreditation is scheduled for the spring of 2018.
