About Rally Squad - Cheer and Song

Number of squads: 3 - Varsity Cheer, Varsity Song, JV Cheer

Tryouts: Tryouts are held in May, prior to the new school year. This early tryout enables the squad to do fittings for their uniforms, go to camp during the summer and work on their opening routines for the fall season. Typically about 70 Girls tryout for the squads. There is no limit to the number on each squad, but Cheer likes to carry between 15-25, Song between 10-15. There is a week long clinic prior to the squad selection which is done before a panel selected by the coaches.

Season of Sport: Rally squad spans two seasons, both Fall and Winter. JV Cheer attends all home football games, cheers and does a halftime show. Varsity Cheer and Song travel both home and away and do halftime shows at most games. JV Cheer attends all home Frosh and JV boys Basketball games, Varsity Cheer and Song attend all home and away Basketball games. All squads do several halftime performances during basketball season.

Additional Information: Rally squad members must purchase their own uniform, shoes and pom poms. The uniform may be worn to school on game days. The school will purchase the equipment bag for the girls and provide transportation as needed, although many of the games, the squad is expected to find their own transportation. Rally squad also attends 2-3 competitions in order to qualify for Nationals, which is held in March in Anaheim. In the last 10 years, both squads have qualified 9 times to compete, and Song won the title in 2009.
