Registration & Information for the Mariner Explorers Summer Camp (Grades 6-8) Register

Welcome to Moreau Catholic High School’s 2017 Mariner Explorers Summer Camp!

Mariner Explorers is a two-week summer camp for middle school students (6th-8th grade in 2017-2018). Participants will have the opportunity to work with our respected faculty and learn new skills that will be shared with friends and family in a culminating presentation.

All courses listed below are scheduled as follows…
Date: Monday, June 19 – Thursday, June 29, every weekday (no classes on Friday, June 30)
Time: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Cost: $250/student (one class per student)

Mariner Explorers Art Program
Come and explore the creative journey and proud heritage of Visual Arts at Moreau Catholic High School. Students will engage in hands-on activities that will develop an understanding and appreciation of Drawing, Painting, Printmaking and Sculpture. The emphasis in the course will be the creative process. Space is limited to 20 students. The class runs every weekday from June 19 to June 29 (no class on June 30). Class times are from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Mariner Explorers Creative Writing Program NEW!
Writing can clarify, persuade, heal, excite, encourage, remind, inspire, and make the world a better place. This course is designed to give students the opportunity to think and write creatively. Together we will read and write creatively--poems, short stories, creative non-fiction, speeches, fan fiction, short plays and more! Students will practice writing and thinking creatively, presenting and performing their work and experimenting with different styles and voices. A fun and challenging class for all levels! Space is limited to 15 students. The class runs every weekday from June 19 to June 29 (no class on June 30). Class times are from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Mariner Explorers Filmography Program
Welcome to the art of creating film and video. Spend your days learning how to shoot, edit, and direct high quality productions and cap the experience off with a live news broadcast that showcases all of your hard work. No need to bring your own camera, we will supply everything that you need. Get a sneak peak into the Film and Video Arts program at Moreau Catholic High School and work in our modern broadcasting facility with our experienced instructors. Space is limited to 18 students. The class runs every weekday from June 19 to June 29 (no class on June 30). Class times are from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Mariner Explorers Maker Lab & Robotics Program
In this combined course, push the limits of your technological imagination. Learn how to use and play with equipment such as 3D printers, Arduinos, Raspberry Pi, and LilyPads and littleBits in our Maker Lab. In Robotics, you will learn the fundamentals of Robotics Engineering and turn your robotic ideas and concepts into reality. Design and build your own projects, which will be showcased to your friends and family on the last day of class. Space is limited to 18 students. The class runs every weekday from June 19 to June 29 (no class on June 30). Class times are from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Mariner Explorers’ Drama Program
Enter the world of theatre by exploring the creative and collaborative nature of theatre. Through fun and engaging activities, students will develop lifelong skills of communication, concentration, and imagination as they learn the creative process of theatre through pantomime, improvisation and other storytelling techniques. Students will also be introduced to the technical elements of a production such as costumes and makeup. Space is limited to 25 students. The class runs every weekday from June 19 to June 29 (no class on June 30). Class times are from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
