Counseling Chairperson

Seniors
The deadline to submit your “intent to register” for college was May 1st.  We will ask seniors to complete a questionnaire regarding their college plans for fall of 2010.  By entering this information, we will be able to send their final transcript to the college they will be attending in the fall, free of charge. Extra transcripts will require a transcript request form, available in the counseling center.  We’re also asking seniors to update their “FAMILY CONNECTION” account regarding college admissions statistics.  We thank you for this valuable information!

AP Exams
Advanced Placement exams start the week of May 3rd. Students should remember to bring #2 pencils and black or blue point pens to the exam(s). Exam schedules will be posted throughout the school and are also available with the Advanced Placement teachers. For more information, please contact Mr. Patterson.

Juniors
Late registration for the June 5th  SAT or SAT Subject Tests is May 13th and May 21st for the June 12 ACT.  Registration information is available in the resource center and on our web-site under the counseling-testing tab. Please note for individual college planning:  fourth quarter is a good time for juniors to meet with their counselor to review their future plans. Juniors should definitely be updating their potential colleges on their Family Connection account.  We strongly recommend updating their resume—this will be important when requesting letters of recommendation.

Juniors and Sophomores
Summer is a good time to take "a look" at colleges by visiting the campus and speaking with admission representatives. Registration for the 2010-2011 SAT and ACT exams will be available starting the first day of classes in the fall.  Please use the web links from our web site for more information and definitely use Family Connection to research colleges or even take the SAT prep course (it’s free!).
