Dear Community Members,
In March of 2003, we were blessed to welcome and host Brother Donald Blauvelt, CSC and Brother Stephen Walsh, CSC in an examination of our Holy Cross Mission. During that mission assessment process, the Brothers spent two days with our community, listening to students and faculty and staff, and talking about what it means to live out the core values of a Catholic, Holy Cross education.
Now, six years later, our school has undergone a similar process of assessing our Catholic Identity and Holy Cross Mission. As a community, we sought input from students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents and community members. We listened to stories of all the amazing ways that our Catholic Identity and Holy Cross Mission are alive and nurtured within our school and woven into the very fabric of our community. We also asked for feedback regarding areas where we could build, improve and grow. As a community, we collected over 702 surveys from parents, faculty, staff and students. Our faculty and staff then collaboratively shared their stories of how they see our Holy Cross identity lived out through four separate online google documents that mirrored the four distinct pillars.
This document is the starting point for the assessment team, made up of Holy Cross Brothers and educators from around the nation, who will visit Moreau Catholic in February 7, 2010 through February 9, 2010, to observe, question, affirm and support our work as educators.
After many meetings, surveys, interviews, discussions, and evidence gathering, we are proud to share this document with you—a document we, as a school community, have developed together. It is a testament to the rich heritage and legacy of Holy Cross that is living and breathing among our alumni, students, teachers, staff, parents and friends. We are proud of the many contributions made by the incredibly supportive community that makes up Moreau Catholic High School.
We invite you to spend some time reading this document to learn about how we educate our students in the faith,what makes us a family, what gives us hope, and how we show our respect for one another in the daily education of the hearts and minds of our students—all within the context of our Catholic faith and our Holy Cross Mission!
