August 2010 Updates:
Moreau Catholic Students are College Bound
As the 2010- 2011 school year approaches, LIFE (college plans) beyond Moreau Catholic are in the minds of many our Mariner families, especially seniors. The newly graduated class of 2010 provides a glimpse into the future of college admissions and destinations for our students.  Proudly, 99% of the class of 2010 will attend college this fall.  This statistic alone confirms our strong commitment to a college-preparatory curriculum.
Moreau has seen a steady increase in the percentage of students attending private and out-of-state universities - a total of 27% of the class.  From Stanford, Princeton, St. Edward's in Austin, Texas, to Hogeschool Universiteit in Brussels, Belgium, it is clear that Moreau Catholic graduates have big plans! Private and out of state schools have increasingly become popular with our families, based on current costs of tuition and housing and their guarantee that students will graduate in four years.  Twenty-one percent of the class of 2010 has chosen a University of California campus - with UC Davis, UC Santa Cruz, and UC Irvine proving to be the most popular.  Thirty-one percent will attend a California State University.

A large part of the success in our students' application process can be attributed to the opportunities available through "Family Connection," our web-based college, and career planning program.  Students and parents can explore college choices, manage the college application process, keep track of letters of recommendations and application essays and much more!  Family Connection is a great tool for our current students and parents to plan their Moreau Catholic courses to meet their college goals.

In addition, our team of trained college counselors has planned a variety of opportunities for students and families to learn more about the college application process throughout the school year.  One of the first opportunities this year will be our Parent Breakfast Club meeting on Friday, September 3rd. The meeting will be an opportunity to meet with counselors and learn more about what college and academic resources are available. Please be sure to check the calendar and website for upcoming events.
