Dean of Restorative Practices and Safety

Special Announcement from the Office of the Principal:  

On behalf of the Dean of Restorative Practices and Safety Search Committee, I am pleased to announce that we have unanimously selected Angela Irizarry '93 as the new Dean of Restorative Practices and Safety of Moreau Catholic High School. 

It was immediately clear to the committee that Ms. Irizarry’s education and experience made her the best person for this position. Ms. Irizarry holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communicative Disorders from the University of the Pacific and has extensive experience and training throughout her 16 years with the Hayward Police Department.  

As Sergeant of the School Resource Unit and, currently, School Liaison, Ms. Irizarry has shared her expertise with our community as a guest speaker on Mental Wellness and as “Sober Grad” presenter to our seniors. Her extensive knowledge in school safety, digital safety and cyber bullying will allow us to stay at the forefront of ensuring campus and student safety. Ms. Irizarry has recent experience in using restorative justice to guide adolescents in understanding harm their actions created and working to determine the best ways to repair that harm. Additionally, Ms. Irizarry’s ability to establish relationships with our students, families, faculty, staff, and external community members will set her up for success.              

Our entire Mariner family is blessed that Ms. Irizarry accepted this critical leadership role and shared her passion and expertise to guide and protect our students. Please join us in congratulating Ms. Angela Irizarry and welcoming her as our new Dean of Restorative Practices and Safety! She will be officially starting on January 4th.

From Angela Irizarry ’93:

I am a graduate of Moreau Catholic High School, class of 1993. Following my time at MCHS, I attended the California State University Fresno for three years and one year at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, where I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Communicative Disorders.My journey detoured onto a different pathway, which led me into the law enforcement field. In 2008, I graduated from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Police Academy and became a police officer with the Hayward Police Department. I have worked there as a Special Victims Unit and Vice Detective, a Patrol Sergeant, and most recently, as a School Liaison Sergeant for the Hayward Unified School District. I am a fitness enthusiast. I am an avid collector of Wonder Woman memorabilia. Also, I am a proud mom to a rescued poodle terrier mix, “Winston, the Wonder Dog.” After 16 years of serving and protecting the city of Hayward, I am excited and honored to start a new career at MCHS to serve as the Dean of Restorative Practices and Safety. I strive to continue providing a supportive and safe environment at MCHS. I look forward to interacting with all the stakeholders in our school community.
