Kaleb Elarms-Orr ’21: Cal Berkeley Jonathan & Judy Hoff Scholar-Athlete of the Week

Kaleb Elarms-Orr ’21

From the University of California, Berkeley:

The Jonathan & Judy Hoff Scholar-Athlete of the Week program was created to recognize the academic development and achievements of our football student-athletes. The following students have been recognized for connecting with resources focused on academic development, wellness and performance, and/or personal growth; engaging with programs and organizations on campus that expand research, fellowship, and/or public service skills; seeking and discovering relational opportunities for growth via mentorship, internship, and/or leadership; and/or embracing self-efficacy via application of knowledge, expansion of the network, and professional pursuits.

Kaleb Elarms Orr ’21 is recognized for extending his pedestal of potential as a scholar-athlete beyond the classroom and the field, into the community, impacting the lives of others via a social justice platform. Kaleb leans on his leadership strengths and acknowledges his areas of growth, consistently adapting his skill set as he engages with groups and individuals in different contexts. By embracing situational awareness, he has enhanced his field of play opportunities and creatively explored co-curricular options to complement his academic journey at Cal. Currently, Kaleb is serving as a Student-Athlete Brand Ambassador with Ignite the Mind Tutoring, mentoring students by taking a personal interest in their long-term development and growth in their respective disciplines. He has also been mindful to share the knowledge he has gained from football by coaching youth within the Next Levels Sports Program focused on a community-centric approach that helps each young individual advance socially, athletically, and behaviorally within a healthy competitive environment.

As Dr. Kasra Sotudeh, Ph.D., Academic Discovery & Curriculum Design Coordinator at UC Berkeley stated, “We are very proud of Kaleb and acknowledge the role that the Moreau Catholic community has played in preparing him both academically and athletically.”
