Moreau Catholic High School Named to Advanced Placement School Honor Roll
Recognized for student success in Advanced Placement program while broadening access.
Hayward, CA─College Board announced that Moreau Catholic High School has been named to the 2024 Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) School Honor Roll, earning Gold distinction.
The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP programs are delivering results for students while broadening access. Schools can earn this recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness.
Moreau Catholic High School had 260 students who took a total of 625 Advanced Placement exams. The pass rate was 64% of all AP examinations that were administered in the following areas:
AP 2-D Art and Design | AP Macro Economics |
AP 3-D Art and Design | AP English Literature |
AP African American Studies | AP Environmental Studies |
AP Biology | AP French Language |
AP Calculus AB | AP Government and Politics |
AP Calculus BC | AP Physics 1 |
AP Chemistry | AP Physics C: Mechanics |
AP Chinese | AP Physics C: Electricity & Magnetism |
AP Comparative Government | AP Psychology |
AP Computer Science A | AP Precalculus |
AP Computer Science Principles | AP Spanish Language |
AP Drawing | AP Statistics |
AP Micro Economics | AP U.S. History |
Last year, Moreau Catholic introduced a new course: AP Precalculus. Mr. Tsan, who previously taught Honors Precalculus, began teaching in the fall. In May 2024, the class took the AP Precalculus exam. The class had a 100% passing rate for both periods, meaning every single student received a 3 or higher. In California, the average passing rate is 76.4%. On top of this, the class earned an average score of 4.30, 23% better than the California average of 3.47. Mr. Tsan said, “I was happy, man. Y’all did well.”

“AP gives students the opportunity to engage with the college-level work, to earn college credit and placement, and to potentially boost their grade point averages,” said Trevor Packer, head of the AP program. “The schools that have earned this distinction are proof that it is possible to expand access to these college-level courses and still drive strong performance – they represent the best of AP.”
College Board’s Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) enables students to pursue college-level studies—with the opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both—while still in high school. Through AP courses in 38 subjects, each culminating in a challenging exam, students learn to think critically, construct solid arguments, and see many sides of an issue—skills that prepare them for college and beyond.
