Students of the Month Criteria

The recognition of students who demonstrate academic, personal, and social responsibility. Students from each grade level will be selected every month. The selected students will get a certificate, their picture taken with the principal, plus a “go to the front of the lunch line” pass, good for one month.

Araceli Catalan Jesse Jimenez 11 Building Respect Jesse Jimenez has earned the Student of the Month award for his remarkable efforts in building respect by showing self-management, responsible decision-making, and self-discipline, demonstrating accountability in his actions. He has shown so much improvement already by asking for help and ensuring that assignments are completed in a timely manner. He has told me several times that he wants to excel in math this year. His dedication to improvement and willingness to seek help have already set him up for success. Congratulations, Jesse, on this well-deserved recognition!
Ana Patterson Jessica Preciado 11 Educating Hearts and Minds Jessica has been a great example of our Pilar "educating hearts and minds" her effective communication and commitment to the classroom say it all. She was sick for a whole week, she knew we had a very important "whole class" presentation, and she did not want to disrupt that, so she joined the class via zoom. This action showed her commitment and dedication to learning.
Ana Patterson Rafael Ramirez 9 Being Family Rafael is a Freshman who is already demonstrating what family is; Rafael is very polite to others, always says hello to peers and faculty, with a very nice smile. He makes others to feel welcome and very comfortable, even though he is new in our school. He is already showing leadership with his kind actions.
Araceli Catalan Valentina Virzi 9 Bringing Hope Valentina has been awarded Student of the Month for her outstanding contributions in bringing hope to our Honors Algebra 1 class. Valentina exemplifies Holy Cross Values through her strong leadership, exceptional teamwork, and unwavering perseverance. Her continuous participation and positive influence and commitment to excellence are inspiring, making her a true role model for her peers. Congratulations, Valentina!
Fr Bruce Vihaan Kant   Bring Hope Always smiling, always enthusiastic to learn, always extremely courteous - I really enjoy having him as a "bright light of hope" in my classes

Jacob Schott Brooke Wells 9 EHAM Eager and respectful in both French and biology. Always prepared, always raises hand, and is always gracious when making and learning from mistakes. A great addition to our frosh class and Mariner family.
Baptist Jalen Thomas 12 hearts and minds You know greatness when you see it. Even better, when Jalen contributes to class, you hear it. Thank you for your engagement in discussion and willingness to contribute during 2nd Period. That's Ubuntu.
Chen John Camantihue 11 Educating Hearts and Minds John is naturally inclined to help others and often takes the initiative to assist classmates who may be struggling or need extra support. He genuinely cares about the well-being and success of those around him, and his eagerness to help is evident in his daily interactions.
Chen Ethan Liu 9 Bringing Hope Ethan, though only a freshman, has quickly proven himself in an upper-level class. His dedication to learning is evident in the way he consistently works hard and shows genuine care for his progress. Ethan’s humility is one of his strongest qualities; he is always open to feedback and strives to improve. He excels in collaborating with classmates during language practice.
Chen Adrian Pickett 10 Bringing Hope Over the past two weeks, I have witnessed a remarkable transformation in Adrian’s attitude and work ethic. Different from last year, now he has shown a renewed commitment to his studies, consistently working hard with his partners and pushing himself to meet high expectations. He demonstrates a newfound respect for his own talents, no longer allowing his potential to go to waste.
Hannon Joshua Carle 10 Educating Hearts and Minds Joshua has demonstrated the ability to provide reflective responses to deep conversations. It has been a pleasure having him in class. 
Hannon Varenya Boyanapolli 12 Building Respect Varenya is always willing to offer her insight into class discussions and consistently demonstrates a positive attitude.
Wainwright Samantha Chun 12 Bringing Hope Sam Chun is an INCREDIBLE student leader as a Link Crew leader and Earthwise President. She worked so hard helping to prepare an outstanding Advisory lesson on sustainability, from the lesson details to the materials (and delivering the materials), and then in my advisory class (which she is a part of), she did an AMAZING job of teaching and leading our group (with verbal checks for understanding and everything!). Not to mention being an "executive council" leader on Link Crew, contributing significantly to making all the frosh feel welcome at the start of the school year.
Conlon Bianca Ramirez 11 Building Respect Bianca has be phenomenal in Advisory; she is what we hope our Holy Cross Scholars will be - open and welcoming of their peers, especially the new transfers / frosh. She has helped us to lay the groundwork to truly create family in our Advisory. Thank you, Bianca.
Conlon Charlotte Cruz 10 Building Respect Charlotte has shown herself to be an exemplary scholar for our Building Respect Holy Cross Pillar by diligently and thoughtfully completing lecture notes. It is clear from the notes she takes that she has internalized the link between the amount of work you put in and your mastery of the topic.
