Moreau Catholic High School is currently seeking an Assistant Principal of Climate and Culture.
Founded in 1965 under the sponsorship of the Congregation of Holy Cross, Moreau Catholic High School emphasizes college-preparatory excellence in all programs designed to facilitate the informative, formative, and transformative needs of the individual student. Located approximately 25 miles southeast of San Francisco, in Hayward, California, the school is accredited by the Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). With approximately 800 students, the co-educational student body reflects the rich ethnic and cultural diversity of the Bay Area, and the school has enjoyed a 99% collegiate matriculation. Our graduating seniors have been accepted into 1,000+ universities and colleges yearly, and have garnered, on average, between $11-14 million in scholarships and grants.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Assistant Principal of Climate and Culture leads the development of a Holy Cross, welcoming, inclusive culture and equitable climate, and serves as the primary arbiter of disciplinary duties at the school. Coordinates with the Deans’ Office to administer the school’s emergency plan and safety and security on campus. The AP of Climate and Culture serves as a liaison between the faculty and staff and the Principal, and is a member of the Leadership Team.
- As a Leadership team member, supports and participates in all aspects of the school’s mission integration and strategic planning process; attends all leadership meetings and retreats; attends Board of Trustees meetings as needed
- Supervise the Dean’s Office, Safety Team, and Student Life and Activities Coordinator.
- With the Deans’ Office, oversees and investigates possible student violations of the Handbook and determines any disciplinary consequences.
- Manages and oversees the Parent Partnership Program and collaborates with the Advancement Office on parent engagement.
- Responsible for school programming related to school climate and culture, including but not limited to:
- Parent workshops and events
- Faculty professional development
- Social Emotional Learning curriculum and implementation
- Restorative practices
- Coach teachers on classroom management strategies, social-emotional learning (SEL), and culturally inclusive practices.
- As a member of the Students of Concern committee, coordinates with counselors and staff to identify, support, and track interventions for students with academic and/or behavioral needs.
- Oversees daily, non-instructional operations, such as lunch, breaks, Advisory and Office Hours.
- Assist with supervision for assemblies, Masses, rallies and other school functions.
- Oversees emergency plans and procedures in consultation with the Deans' Office and Director of Site Services, including emergency drills and coordination with local authorities.
- Provide guidance and support to the Principal in identifying policies, practices, and other factors that result in inequitable outcomes and explore and implement evidence-based practices and interventions that lead to equitable outcomes.
- In partnership with the Principal, AP of Instruction, Student Life and Activities Coordinator, and the Director of Admissions, coordinates the parent portion of the Frosh Orientation.
- In partnership with the Leadership of Advancement, Athletics, and Boosters, support initiatives that promote parent volunteerism and sharing of time, talent and treasure
- Coordinate and align the work of campus equity committees, programs, and initiatives
- Collaborate with the Office of Instruction, Counseling, and other appropriate departments to support the infusion of culturally relevant pedagogy and practices into the curricula and programs.
- Updates, edits, coordinates submissions to the school calendar and the student/parent handbook.
- May be required to teach one or more classes as needed.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule: some evening and weekend time required.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field; master’s degree preferred, and at least 5 years of high school teaching experience.
- Possession of a clear or preliminary California Teaching Credential or the ability to obtain a teaching credential.
- Knowledge of and experience with positive behavioral interventions and support; creating and implementing student behavior expectations and conflict resolution strategies.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; intermediate computer skills and knowledge of PC/MAC, internet search, and/or various web and computer software applications.
- Ability to utilize effectively and appropriately 21st century technology.
- Strong experience in operational and strategic planning, organizational management, budget development, expenditure monitoring, and staff management and mentorship
Salary range
$117,400 - $129,614
