Athletics Coach Job Openings - Multiple Sports

Moreau Catholic High School is a coeducational, college preparatory school committed to outstanding achievement. Located in Hayward, California, we prepare our students through academic, social, and spiritual learning experiences that form and transform them as they become responsible citizens of our global community.

Moreau Catholic is recruiting for part-time, seasonal coaching positions for the 2022-2023 academic year. Our coaches instruct student-athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of the team and individual success. Coaches offer instruction that will lead to the formation of positive attitudes toward healthy competition, including an appreciation for the value of teamwork, the importance of commitment, and hard work to achieve goals.

We are recruiting for the following positions:

Head Coach – Varsity Softball

Spring 2023 season. Softball begins February 6th and runs through mid-May. Applicants should have experience in softball with coaching, playing, and working with high school athletes at the junior varsity or varsity level. The coach should have a minimum of 2 years of head coaching experience at the high school varsity level. All applicants must possess and maintain all appropriate certifications and/or authorizations for coaching. They must also have a demonstrated ability to teach, organize and supervise their players, assistants, and lower-level coaches. References are required.

Assistant Coach – Varsity Baseball (pitching)

Spring 2023 season. Season begins February 6th and goes through mid-May. Applicants should have experience in baseball with coaching, playing, and working with high school athletes at the junior varsity or varsity level, specifically as a pitching coach. The coach should have a minimum of 1 year of coaching experience at the high school varsity level. All applicants must possess and maintain all appropriate certifications and/or authorizations for coaching. They must also have a demonstrated ability to teach, organize and supervise their players, assistants, and lower-level coaches. References are required.

Head Coach – Girls' Varsity Lacrosse

Spring 2023 season. Girls' Lacrosse begins February 6th and runs through mid-May. MCHS has a need for a head/assistant coach (part of the season as a head coach and part of the season as an assistant coach). Applicants should have experience in lacrosse with coaching, playing, and working with high school athletes at the junior varsity or varsity level. The coach should have a minimum of 2 years of head coaching experience at the high school varsity level. All applicants must possess and maintain all appropriate certifications and/or authorizations for coaching. They must also have a demonstrated ability to teach, organize and supervise their players, assistants, and lower-level coaches. References are required.

Head Coach - Swimming

Spring 2023 season. Swimming begins February 6th and runs through mid-May. Applicants should have experience in swimming with coaching, playing, and working with high school athletes at both the junior varsity or varsity level. The coach should have a minimum of 2 years of head coaching experience at the high school varsity level. All applicants must possess and maintain all appropriate certifications and/or authorizations for coaching. They must also have a demonstrated ability to teach, organize and supervise their players, assistants, and lower-level coaches. References are required.

Essential Duties

  • Holds organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages students to participate
  • Works with cheerleaders during practices and meets.
  • Assesses skills and assigns team positions.
  • Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development.
  • Works with the Athletics Director in scheduling facilities for practices and competition.
  • Coaches and instructs cheerleaders, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
  • Observes cheerleaders, during events and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior and always provides proper supervision of students.
  • Monitors the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met.
  • Develops and oversees routines for both cheer and song.
  • Follows established procedures in the event of an injury.
  • Conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the performance of their students.
  • Follows state, regional, and district regulations governing the program.
  • Models sports-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards cheerleaders, officials, and spectators.
  • Acts as a team representative and promotes cheerleading by communicating with the media, booster clubs, service clubs, and other organizations as directed and approved by the Athletic Director.
  • Follows established procedures for supplies and uniforms.
  • Works with the Athletic Director to develop a policy for awards and submits a list of award winners at the end of the season.
  • Participates in special activities including parent’s night, banquets, and pep rallies.
  • Maintains updated physicals, emergency information, insurance records through our Appryse system and maintains equipment inventory
  • Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
  • Attends staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
  • Performs at boys & girls games
  • Supervise assistant coaches
  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport, effective coaching techniques, and skills, establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students and maintain communication skills with Teachers, Parents, Athletic Director, and Students via phone, email, and text.
  • Be organized, dependable, and promotes unity amongst team members
