Center for Music and Band

Moreau Catholic High School enjoys a remarkable reputation as one of the area’s most rigorous schools dedicated to educating the whole student. In keeping with our tradition of developing the entire individual and amplifying our commitment to excellence in academics, athletics, and the arts, we aim to provide our learning community with the opportunity to experience a new and modern Center for Music and Band.

We must always place education side-by-side with instruction. The mind will not be cultivated at the expense of the heart.

– Blessed Basil Moreau

Since 1965, Moreau Catholic has prepared students for the rigors of college and the complexities of life. Our college-preparatory community puts a strong emphasis on leadership and innovation. With robust and unique curricular offerings, an unparalleled visual and performing arts program, a variety of award-winning athletic and co-curricular activities that meet the interests of all students, and continually evolving leadership and service opportunities, we are committed to empowering the outstanding achievement of each and every member of our diverse and inclusive Mariner family.

This is a new moment for Moreau Catholic! We are thrilled to create a new center to showcase our students’ outstanding achievement in the arts and build upon our commitment to the transformation of our students. ~ Dr. Elizabeth Guneratne, President

Moreau Catholic High School is sponsored by the Congregation of Holy Cross and is named after its founder, Blessed Basil Moreau. We are a community of faith, and we prepare our students through academic, social, and spiritual learning experiences that form and transform them as they become responsible citizens of our global community. A Holy Cross education is respectful and embracing of all humans. At Moreau Catholic, we pride ourselves in being a family that welcomes all. We empower our students to develop their talents, discover their passions, find their voices, and create the change that our world needs.

The worldwide Holy Cross educational network further enhances the Moreau Catholic experience for students. Our alumni, over 13,000 strong, are leading the way all over the globe. And when given the chance to look back, they credit their education, friendships, and experiences at Moreau Catholic for making all the difference.

Moreau Catholic’s bands stand out among high school band programs throughout the region. Whether performing during football games and sporting events, parades or special community shows, the quality and professionalism of these young musicians is extraordinary. Our current music and band program provides an environment in which students can learn, grow and refine their craft supporting each other through the creative process.

The current band room is small, old, and difficult to access. Due to space limitations of the old site plan, the band room was tucked into an odd space above the gymnasium accessible only by a narrow full flight of stairs. The rooms have poor acoustics, inadequate ventilation, insufficient musical instrument storage space, and lack any wheelchair access. Students have been carrying their instruments up and down the narrow steps for decades. As the success of the music and band program continues to surpass expectations, and as our student’s digital influence and outreach expands, it is time for Moreau Catholic High School to enter a new phase in its mission.

Since becoming a member of the Mariner family 20 years ago when our oldest daughter started at MCHS, I’ve had the privilege of volunteering on several committees and the Board of Trustees. I’m thrilled about the new Music and Band Center project as the future students of Moreau will have access to state-of-the-art facilities to align with the award-winning music programs Moreau Catholic is known for. Please join me and the entire Board of Trustees in this new chapter by supporting this exciting Music and Band Center! ~Rick L’Heureux, Chair Emeritus, Board of Trustees
