The Annual Moreau Catholic Alumnae Volleyball Game between Mariner alumnae and the current varsity team was played on Saturday, September 9 with 11 alumnae in attendance -- from Liz (Lowe) Huizar '97 to Angelica Templeton '16.

The first game was a battle as the alums were active at the net with Kelsey (Hebert) Cardana '07, Elise Menicou '11, and Liz Huizar providing the blocking and attack. The current varsity squad prevailed 25-23 to take the first set.

In the second set, the alums caught fire behind awesome serving by Megan Scully '11, and the setting of Amanda Irias '15 and Jessica Marin '12. Jessica was cheered on by her sister Stephanie '08 and her husband Alex Serrano '08. Sammy (Capurro) Matichak '07 was active on the court diving for balls while being cheered on by her husband, Adam '07, and his best friend and husband of Kelsey, Kody Cardana, '07. The alums prevailed to win 25-21 to set up the third set.

Fatigue started to set in but the alums held tough, being supported by Jessica King '11 and Briana King '15 who enjoyed competing against their sister and current senior, Katrina King. The current varsity team took the third and fourth sets, but it was a competitive match and the alums showed the skill, power and perseverance that they exhibited during their playing time at Moreau Catholic.
