New Roles in Moreau's Athletic Department
Posted 09/15/2017 03:00PM

When Heidi Muhr retired as the assistant in the Mariner Athletic Department in 2016, it was decided that the structure of Moreau's program should be reviewed to reflect the changing needs in the department. The result was a restructuring with an athletic director focused on operations and one on communications to handle the significant growth in Moreau's athletic program over the past several years.

Chris Krisman, Moreau's Athletic Director for the last 10 years and entering her 38th year at Moreau, has taken on the new role of Athletic Director for Communications to concentrate on expanding Moreau's sports information opportunities and marketing. Monica Wright-Heuer is Moreau's new Athletic Director for Operations, supervising all sports and event management as well as Booster Club operations.

Monica earned her BA degree in physical education from California State University, East Bay and her MS degree in sports and fitness management from the University of San Francisco (USF). She served as the Associate Director of Intercollegiate Athletics at Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA, as well as the head women's basketball coach at Evergreen and assistant coach at USF, San Jose State University, Patten College, CSU, East Bay, and Holy Names High School and Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland.

Chris has enjoyed witnessing the growth of Moreau's athletic program over the years and looks forward to expanding her role and serving as a partner in developing a new vision for the Mariners.

"My job has encompassed all facets of a program where 75% of students actively participate and develop a passion for their sport or, in some cases, a passion for several sports," she said.

"I am excited to explore the best strategies for reconnecting with our former athletes and sharing their stories of success with our community," Chris added. "Additionally, I look forward to attending more of our home and away contests and sharing play-by-play and final results in real-time, leveraging Twitter and other social media tools. I invite you to follow me on Twitter using @ckrisman."
