On Friday, Sept. 29, Char Raimondi stepped out from her usual roles as a member of the Moreau Board of Directors and a football fan to become an honorary coach for Moreau's game against Irvington. Char had won the "Coach for a Day" opportunity at this year's golf tournament auction.
First, she began her coaching debut by participating in the team prayer service at the Chapel, where she shared an inspirational video with the team. She then ate dinner, prepared by our football moms, with the team in the Ivaldi Student Center. After the team got dressed and ready for the game, she met them in the locker room for a pre-game speech, participated in the coin toss, stood arm-and-arm with them for the national anthem, then participated in the pregame prayer/cheer.
At halftime, Char met with the coaches to devise the first play from scrimmage to be used at the start of the second half. Drawing on her extensive knowledge of football and years of observing our coaches and players in action, she devised a great play with a double reverse that saw Max Anderson race down the sideline for a 50-yard gain. Unfortunately, a holding penalty nullified the play, but Moreau went on to win the game 42-13.
