Winter Athletes Excel Both On and Off the Field
Posted 03/20/2018 03:34PM

The winter sports teams of soccer and basketball along with the rally squad worked hard to achieve greatness both in their sport and in their classrooms. 60% of the athletes achieved above a 3.0 GPA for their season, no mean feat when the season stretched from November 6th to March 10th. 128 athletes achieved a 3.0 or better, with 84 earning a 3.5 or better and 28 reaching the pinnacle of 4.0 or better.

Athletically, it was also a great season with all four of the varsity squads earning a berth in the NCS playoffs. Varsity boys soccer fell in a very hard fought battle with Marin Catholic 3-1. Varsity girls soccer finished league play in third with a 9-4-4 record and faced Berean Christian, coming up short 2-1.

Varsity girls basketball hosted their first round game in NCS playoffs and powered over Albany 76-16, moving on to play Campolindo where they faced the Oregon bound 6'4" senior who set a record with 60 point en route to their win. The girls qualified for the state tournament, traveling to Woodside Priory but injuries early in the game proved too much for them to overcome.

The varsity boys basketball team finished as co-champions of the MVAL (JV boys were champions also) and won their first two games in the NCS playoffs after coming up against Las Lomas in the semi-finals. The boys also went on to the state tournament facing Sequoia and ending up victorious before falling to St. Mary's Stockton. This junior laden team promise to make some noise next year!
