From the Principal
I am excited, honored, and humbled to serve as Principal of Moreau Catholic High School. My path to this position began in 1973 when I followed my two older sisters into these halls. My four younger siblings came after us, my mom taught at Moreau and my parents coached here. That was the beginning of my deep love, respect, and admiration for Moreau Catholic and Holy Cross. Since then, I have been a coach, a teacher in and Chair of the Social Studies Department, and as the Dean of Students. I am an alumni parent, having both of my children graduate from Moreau Catholic. I live and breathe MCHS – it is part of who I am, where I came from, and where I want to be.
Having lived in the Bay Area for my entire life, I know well the diversity of the greater East Bay. I embrace our changing student demographics not as a challenge, but as a celebration. My work with Restorative Practices and Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) will allow me to continue the work of celebrating our diversity, not just by action, but by guiding our faculty, staff, students, and community in the strategies and best practices towards equity and inclusion. Fr. Moreau calls us to, “With the eyes of faith consider the greatness of the mission and the wonderful amount of good that one can accomplish. And also consider the great reward promised to those who have taught the truth to others and have helped form them into justice.”
I am excited to partner with our knowledgeable and accomplished Leadership Team and our resilient, committed, compassionate, and creative faculty and staff. I look forward to working with our partner schools and the Oakland Diocese, and building relationships with our Mariner students, parents, and families who continue to inspire and energize me! I am eager to continue this journey towards outstanding achievement and academic excellence for all our students. Together I know we will be able to accomplish the transformation in each of our students for, as Fr. Moreau said, “It is by this that you will contribute to preparing the world for better times than ours.”
Go Mariners!
With fondness and appreciation,
